1.% 2 measurement principle

An impact body with a prescribed mass is used to impact the sample surface at a certain speed under the action of elastic force, and the ratio of the rebound speed of the punch to the impact surface and the impact speed is used to calculate the hardness value. Calculated as follows:

HL = 1000 × VB / VA

In the formula: HL—— Leeb hardness value

VB-rebound speed of impact body

VA——Impact velocity of impact body

The output signal of the impact device is as follows:

2 Use of the instrument

7.1 Sample preparation

• During the preparation of the surface of the specimen, the influence of heat and cold processing on the surface hardness of the specimen should be avoided as much as possible.

• The measured surface is too rough, which will cause measurement errors. Therefore, the tested surface of the sample must be exposed to metallic luster, and be flat, smooth, and free of oil.

• Curved surface: The test surface of the specimen is preferably flat. The test specimens with a radius of curvature R of less than 30 mm should use small support rings or special-shaped support rings during testing.

• Sample support

-For heavy samples, no support is required;

——For medium-sized samples, they must be placed on a flat, solid surface, and the samples must be placed absolutely and smoothly without any shaking;

• The specimen shall have sufficient thickness, and the minimum thickness of the specimen shall comply with the requirements in Table 3.

• For specimens with a surface hardened layer, the depth of the hardened layer shall comply with Table 3.

• Coupling

——For light samples, they must be tightly coupled with a solid support, the two coupling surfaces must be flat and smooth, the amount of coupling agent should not be too much, and the test direction must be perpendicular to the coupling plane;

——When the sample is a large-area plate, a long rod, or a curved part, even if the weight and thickness are large, it may still cause deformation and instability of the test piece, resulting in inaccurate test values. Therefore, it should be reinforced or supported on the back of the test point.

• The sample itself should be less than 30 Gauss

7.2 Measurement

• Power on

——No key version: push down the loading sleeve to lock the impact body, press the release button on the upper part of the impact device, the instrument self-test enters the measurement state.

——There is a key version: press the [ON / OFF] key, the power is turned on at this time, and the instrument enters the measurement state after self-test.

• loading

——Push down the loading sleeve to lock the impact body, and the loading is completed at this time.

——Press the support ring of the impact device tightly on the surface of the sample, and the impact direction should be perpendicular to the test surface.

• Measurement

——Test by pressing the release button on the upper part of the impact device. At this time, the specimen, impact device and operator are required to be stable, and the direction of the force should pass through the axis of the impact device.

——Three tests are generally carried out for each measuring part of the sample.

——Read the measured average value as a Leeb hardness test data.

• shutdown

——If there is no operation, the instrument will automatically shut down after a period of time.

——With key version: Press the [On / Off] key, the instrument will shut down.

• The distance between any two indentations or the distance between the center of any indentation and the edge of the specimen shall comply with the following table.

Distance between two indentation centers

Distance between indentation center and specimen edge

≥3mm

≥5mm

• Hardness setting (with key version)

——According to the applicable measurement range, select the hardness system and start the measurement.

7.3 Menu structure diagram (with key version)

The setting of instrument parameters and additional functions can be realized through menu operations. Press the [Menu] key on the main display interface to enter the main menu.

7.4 Charging

This machine uses a rechargeable lithium battery. When the battery voltage is too low, please charge it in time and choose the charging head and USB charging cable provided with the machine.

When the battery voltage is too low, the instrument will automatically shut down.

Regardless of whether it is turned on or not, it can be charged after connecting the charger, and the charging head indicator light is on.

3 Calibration of the instrument

If the measurement indication error and the indication repeatability are too large, the instrument and impact device can be calibrated with a standard Leeb hardness block (optional).

• Enter the calibration menu, as shown below

——There is a key version: press the [Menu] key to enter the menu, press the [Up and Down] key to select \"Software Calibration \", and press the [Menu] key to enter the calibration state.

——No key version: Five consecutive measurements on air can enter the calibration state.

• Calibration measurement

—— Randomly measure five points on the Leeb hardness block vertically downward to get the average measurement value.

• Adjust the measured value according to the nominal value of the standard Leeb hardness block

——With key version: press the [up and down] keys to adjust the measured value to the nominal value, and press the [menu] key to complete the calibration.

——No key version: once for air measurement, the measured value will be decremented by 1; once for the workpiece or hardness block, the measured value will be increased by 1. After adjusting to the nominal value, no further operation is required, and the calibration will be automatically completed after 5 seconds .

• Calibration range is ± 15HL.

4 Maintenance and repair

9.1 Impact device

• After using 1000-2000 times, use a nylon brush to clean the catheter and impact body of the impact device. When cleaning the catheter, unscrew the support ring first, then remove the impact body, and rotate the nylon brush into the tube counterclockwise. Pull back, repeat this 5 times, then install the impact body and support ring;

• After use, release the impact body;

• Do not use various lubricants in the impact device.

9.2 Normal maintenance procedures

• When the standard Rockwell hardness block is used for testing, and the error is greater than 2HRC, the ball head may be worn and failed. Consider replacing the ball head or the impact body.

• When other abnormalities occur in the hardness tester, please do not disassemble or adjust any fixed components. After filling in the warranty card, please submit it to our maintenance department to implement the warranty regulations. The instrument stay in our company generally does not exceed one week.

9.3 Non-warranty parts list

1. housing 2. impact body 3. support ring member 4. key membrane 5. window 6. lithium battery

9.4 Storage conditions, transportation and precautions

• Store away from vibration, strong magnetic fields, corrosive media, humidity, and dust. Store at room temperature.

• It can be transported under the condition of third-grade roads in the original packaging.
